David Byrne has taught in Spain, South Korea, Ireland and England. He is now based in London as Curriculum Manager of EC English and the Regional Academic Director of Europe & South Africa. In his spare time, he writes teaching materials and fiction.
Alessia Cogo
Alessia Cogo is Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics at Goldsmiths, University of London. Originally from Italy, she worked as a teacher of English before starting research in English as a Lingua Franca and multilingualism. She has published widely on aspects of English diversity and linguistic justice.
Graham V. Crookes
Graham V. Crookes is Professor, Department of Second Language Studies, University of Hawai‘i. Originally from the UK, he has lived and worked as a teacher of English, researcher and teacher educator in the Asia-Pacific Region since 1977. His most recent book is Starting points in critical language pedagogy (Information Age Publishers).
Hugh Dellar
Hugh Dellar is a classroom EFL teacher, teacher trainer and coursebook writer. He has delivered conference talks, training sessions and teacher development workshops all over the world. In 2016, he founded London Language Lab, a lexically-oriented school in central London, together with Andrew Walkley. They run the www.lexicallab.com site. Hugh lives in north London with his family.
Gail Ellis
Gail Ellis has over 30 years experience as a teacher, teacher educator and manager, and is an advocate of children’s rights.
Her recent publications include Tell it Again! and Teaching Children How to Learn. Her main interests are picturebooks
in ELT, young learner ELT management and inclusive practices.
Andreas Grundtvig
Andreas is a teacher, author, linguist, Cambridge Exams Centre Manager and former HELTA Chair. A speaker of eight languages, he learnt English (his fourth) at primary school in Scotland and Suffolk. As a country collector, he takes every chance to explore language(s) in context. After several visits to Africa he founded Teachers 4 Schools e.V. together with a group of friends.
David Heathfield

Mark Heffernan
Mark Heffernan has taught English for over 16 years, spending many of those years focusing on exam teaching. In 2016, he moved to Queen Mary University where he teachers EAP, is a materials writer and a module convenor. Together, he and David have written a popular blog and a teachers resource book, called Textploitation.
Jonathan Marks
I live in Gdynia, Poland, and work on a freelance basis as a teacher-trainer, writer and translator. I previously lived and worked in Germany, Sweden and the UK.

Sávio Siqueira is Associate Professor of English and Applied Linguistics at Bahia Federal University, Salvador, Brazil. He holds a PhD in Linguistics and is the founder of the research group ELF Brazil-UFBA. He has published extensively on topics such as ELF, Critical Language Pedagogy and intercultural education.
Scott Thornbury
Scott is a teacher and teacher educator, with over 30 years' experience in English language teaching, and an MA from the University of Reading. His previous experience includes teaching and teacher training in Egypt, UK, Spain (where he lives), and in his native New Zealand.
