'Network Now A1 Starter' - Selfstudy

We all know how important it is for our learners to spend time at home reviewing and consolidating what they have learnt in the classroom and the 'Network Now' series provides lots of opportunity for them to do just that. In Network Now, each Step of every Unit is followed by one page of Selfstudy. This is where your students can review the language which was covered in the Step by doing some controlled practice exercises. The exercises are varied and interesting and, although they are intended to give your students the opportunity to practise and consolidate what they have learnt, an important aspect is also to give them a sense of achievement by showing them what they are now able to do with the English language. They can work as slowly or quickly as they want and can check their answers themselves in the key at the back of the book. This gives them some control over their learning and will increase both their confidence and their enjoyment of the language.

Each Selfstudy page always starts with a repetition of the input texts from the Step's classroom pages to give the students the chance to hear them again. The exercises which follow are linked to the vocabulary, grammar and functional language presented on the Step's classroom pages. Writing practice is controlled and speaking practice takes the form of pronunciation exercises. The exercises are designed so that students can do them completely on their own and at their own pace, meaning that you do not need to take up valuable lesson time going through homework exercises.
